Zero Exclusions Policy
We strive to support our young people without excluding, and to that end, will only exclude a student if they are a significant risk to themselves, the school staff or its students. In this case we use fixed term exclusions where appropraite In most cases we are able to offer appropriate restorative work to support our students in making more informed choices.
We are a school that strives to work without the use of restraint wherever possible, and instead work with our students to find new solutions to the challenges of navigating school life when it is extra difficult.
Complaints and Suggestions
- To improve the choice of food served in school - we have brought in outside caterers and are monitoring the quality of the food and trying different menus
- To improve WiFi - we are investigating increasing wiFi points
- To provide better buses - we found a better lease company
- To provide comfier chairs for a group of students - we did this
We had 4 formal complaints in 2023-24, all of which have been dealt with satisfactorily. We had one further complaint where the complainant did not follow any processes and we were unable to resolve.
Governing Body
We established a governing body in January 2018. Governors meet each half term and ask staff about progress, as well as visiting the school to check out what we are saying and make sure we are making good progress in our actions and improvements.
